You can buy a piece of the original copa room stage on ebay right now at http://www.ebay.com/itm/260998855803?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649

I feel old. I have spent a lot of time in my younger days going there but unfortunately never had the chance to do so. I guess it's just another dream of mine that will go unfulfilled now that The Sands is history.

oh yes, i remember it too. one of the first auctions we had after i started working at Rabin. and still one of the most memorable. too bad i couldn't get a slot machine.

There are some cool clips of the Sands auction and Henry Rabin in the Highlights video on the Rabin about us page: http://blog.rabin.com/about-us.html

I remember walking out onto the sidewalk after being inside the Sands all day, prior to the auction. The evening was hot hot hot, and the doors to the hotel were wide open. Wondered if they were hoping to cool down the streets! And thought 'electricity must be really cheap around here.' Guess I prefer the cool air of San Francisco.
